Nora Smith

Nora Smith is currently pursuing a graduate trumpet performance masters degree at the University of Denver, where she holds a graduate teaching assistantship, coaching ensembles and teaching private lessons. Nora has played principal trumpet in the award-winning DU wind ensemble in addition to holding prominent roles in the Lamont Symphony and brass ensemble. She has studied and collaborated with trumpeters such as Dr. David Champouillon, Edward Gornik, Mario Guarneri, Dave Burkhart, Laurie McGaw, and Alan Hood. Mrs. Smith received her Bachelor of Music from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. As a soloist, she has performed with the San Francisco Conservatory Orchestra on Handel’s Messiah in Davies Symphony Hall in 2001 and 2002. She was also a member of the San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra from 2000-2002, touring Europe with them in 2001. This summer, Nora will participate in the Bay Brass Institute with Bud Herseth and will enter her doctoral studies at the University of Northern Colorado as a teaching assistant this fall. Mrs. Smith is currently an active freelancer in the Denver area and her goal is to teach at the collegiate level.
